Transfer Station

Items for Drop-Off

The following shows the items that must be kept separated from your regular trash. Each item should be prepared as indicated below and brought to the Transfer Station. For the most recent fee schedule click here.

The Thomaston Transfer Station will also accept recyclable's shown above if you choose to deliver them.The Thomaston Transfer Station is located at the end of Old Waterbury Road and is open on the following days:

April - October

• Monday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 12:00 noon
• Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

November - March

• Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
• Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Scrap Metal

• Light scrap metal, white goods, aluminum, copper, brass, tools, water tanks, pipes, aluminum siding, copper wire, faucets.
• Not included - Propane tanks, oil-based paint cans, fuel oil and gasoline tanks.
• Preparation - Check with transfer station personnel.

Waste Oil and Motor Oil

• Used crankcase oil.
• Not included - Gasoline, automatic transmission fluid, fuel oil, hydraulic oil, parts cleaner, solvents and anti-freeze.
• Preparation - Place in clean plastic or metal jug. Do not use empty bleach containers.

Batteries and Vehicle Storage Batteries

• Car batteries, truck batteries, boat batteries, tractor batteries, motorcycle batteries.
• Not included - Flashlight batteries, hearing aid batteries, watch batteries. 
• Preparation - Deliver to transfer station or return to store where battery was purchased.

Leaves and Brush

• Foliage from trees and brush.
• Not included - Grass clippings.
• Preparation - Check with Transfer Station personnel.
